Carolina Vosátková

Environmental Policies & Sustainable Destination Management

Carolina always loved to travel, organised events and care about sustainable development in different sectors.

For the past 12 years, she has been working in the event industry and last 2 years she became a Sustainability Event Consultant/ Revolution Manager.

She has been working towards more sustainable Events, Congresses and Conferences in European countries such as Geneva, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Prague and Amsterdam.

In 2018 she was also part of the ISO20121 event organiser team, which successfully achieved third party ISO 20121 (Sustainable Event Management system) certification in 3 different European countries in the same year.

She says that the most important for her is to go every day to work knowing that she is making a positive a sustainable difference: "Organising an event and dealing with so many suppliers, gives you a big opportunity to detect the issues and then support with solutions to prevent tons of waste and lower the carbon footprint".

Carolina 's specialties are probably staying optimistic, do not push to extremes and try to find the tailored approach for each individual/supplier/ team. "Everybody need a bit different kind of communication, motivation or nudging in order to understand/care and put sustainability in place", Carolina says.

Brett Blumberg

Brett Blumberg

San Diego, USA

Sustainability Manager

Details of experience:

Brett's first taste of event sustainability came as a seasonal contractor for ESPN over the course of 6 years, helping to mitigate the environmental impacts of various events around the country.

After a short career as a remediation engineer, he joined Kilowatt Events, Inc. and helped launch their new dedicated sustainability wing, Kilowatt One.

Because Kilowatt's expertise is producing traditional events, the company advantage comes from their ability to weave event sustainability into the fabric of the event production process under the control of a single company, ultimately saving time and effort for clients and creating deeper impacts throughout event operations.

His education in engineering gave him the technical toolset needed to tackle large-scale social and environmental issues while his degree in business has provided the ability to clearly communicate the value in doing so to all stakeholders.

Event sustainability must make business sense, and he is excited to help grow the industry as it becomes increasingly important in an ever-changing world.
